Estimating Engineer

We are delighted that due to our continued success we have a vacancy for an Estimating Engineer in our Medical Estimating Team supporting our global marketplace.

The role will involve the preparation of complete project costings for supply and installation of specialist medical equipment works packages. In addition, you will assist with the delivery of compliant projects from conception through to completion.

Key Deliverables

• To review and assess tender documentation to enable production of successful and competitive tender submissions.

• Review design drawings and performance specifications to then prepare accurate and thorough costings against all aspects of a project.

• Identify and report on project risk and opportunity/scope ensuring risks are mitigated and opportunities maximised.

• Co-ordinate with the in-house design team to review and determine design feasibility.

• Prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotations) to suppliers, including appropriate detail to ensure accurate pricing is received.

• Carry out detailed site surveys where required to determine client/project requirements.

• Work closely with department managers and team leads to generate material and labour costings for all stages of the project (Design/Build/Install/Commissioning).

• Build relationships with key suppliers to ensure ongoing partnerships and ensure efficient collaboration.

Required Experience and Knowledge

• Highly experienced in the preparation of formal costings, quotations and proposals for Specialist Capital Equipment, MEP and BWIC tender packages.

• Experienced MS Excel and MS Word user with high level of general IT literacy.

• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

• Ability to produce accurate take offs and material/equipment schedules.

• Strong written English skills and ability to produce accurate and succinct proposal documentation.

• Rounded knowledge of general mechanical and electrical building services.

Desired Experience and Knowledge

• Knowledge of medical ventilation and clean air systems for clinical areas.

• Knowledge of HTM and HBN guidelines.

• Knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts JCT/NEC.

• Electrical estimating and/or design experience.

• Understanding of NHS procurement process.
